New Forest high street with ‘grand architecture’ named among best in the UK
Lymington High Street was featured alongside 31 others in a list from the Daily Mail, who spoke to various property experts and estate agents to come up with the locations.
It wrote: “Despite the rise of online shopping and the trend for working from home, many of Britain’s high streets remain the beating heart of their communities, as well as being a magnet for visitors bored by the chain store experience.
“Buzzing with activity thanks to quirky independent stores, coffee shops and restaurants, as well as an overall sense of community, they also attract home buyers from far and wide.”
The full list of the best 32 high streets in the UK can be found on the Daily Mail website here.

Lymington was praised for its proximity to the sea, mixing “historical elegance and coastal charm”.
It is said to create a “vibrant atmosphere” with plenty of “quaint” stores for people to explore.
The publication wrote: “Grand architecture meets seaside souvenir shops and the smell of the ocean on Lymington’s high street.”

“The high street meanders down to the serene Lymington River, where the fresh sea breeze enhances the vibrant atmosphere of quaint seaside shops.”
Markets are also still held on the high street every Saturday from 8am to 3pm for those who are interested.
Earlier this year, Lymington was also named among the top seven loveliest high streets in the UK, according to The Times.
Like the Daily Mail, it also commended its market, describing the high street overall as a “best-of-both-worlds” affair.
They added: “In terms of shops, Willow is excellent for homewares (willowlifestyle.com) while BBL stocks brilliant, under-the-radar women’s fashions (7 Quay Street).
“Stay at Stanwell House, a Georgian boutique hotel, which makes its own contribution to the townscape next door in the form of Stanwells store, which sells cult European labels such as Isabel Marant and Golden Goose.”
