The first race on Day 3 of the 2023 Cheltenham Festival gets underway with the Turners Novices’ Chase at 1.30pm. One of the standout horses in that race is the Gordon Elliott trained Mighty Potter. The Irish racing trainer will be hopeful of one of his star horses claiming victory here for the first time at the Cheltenham Festival.
Gordon Elliott trains the current betting favourite in the Turners Novices’ Chase – Mighty Potter.
The 6-year-old gelding currently sits at odds of around 6/5 with the best horse racing betting sites. Mighty Potter has won his last four racing starts in a row, and has looked highly impressive in recent runs. If he can replicate that form here at Cheltenham again this year, he will be extremely difficult to stop.
The French gelding aims to win his first Cheltenham Festival race after pulling up last year in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle. He is the overriding betting favourite for a reason – he is a phenomenal horse.
In terms of Cheltenham odds, Mighty Potter’s odds could well shorten as the Turners Novices’ Chase race approaches. Depending on the movement in the betting market he could even go off close to even money or perhaps even shorter.
Banbridge could be Mighty Potter’s biggest threat, along with the Willie Mullins-trained Appreciate It and Henderson-trained Balco Coastal.
Elliott’s 6-year-old is certainly one of the biggest names in the race and an eye-catching horse here. He has every chance of claim his first Festival victory in the Turners Novices’ Chase on Day 3 of the 2023 Cheltenham Festival.
