The game-day attire for the debut of Lexington’s newest professional sports franchise has finally been unveiled.

Lexington Sporting Club (LSC) — a professional soccer franchise that will play in USL League One, the third tier of American pro soccer — publicly announced its road jerseys for its debut 2023 season on Monday.

The Nike kit is a white jersey and white shorts combo, with a black diamond silk pattern vertically down the center of the shirt.

The Nike logo is on the right side of the shirt, with the LSC crest on the left side. The back of the shirt is white, with a small stylized horse in black near the neckline.

In a news release announcing the jerseys, the diamond pattern is said to be a reference to jockey silks in horse racing.

The away jersey features UK HealthCare Sports Medicine as a primary, front-of-shirt sponsor.

Kits are available for purchase through Lexington SC’s online store.

Last July, UK HealthCare signed a five-year partnership with LSC to become a primary sponsor of the club. As part of the partnership, UK HealthCare was named the official health care provider of the club, as well as LSC’s first front-of-kit sponsor.

UK HealthCare sponsors kits at all levels of LSC teams.

LSC’s name and branding — which prominently features a vibrant green stylized horse figure set against a dark green background — was unveiled in March 2022.

LSC just days away from first match

The debut match for Lexington Sporting Club’s senior men’s team in USL League One is only days away.

LSC begins the 2023 season on Saturday with a road match at One Knoxville Sporting Club, another team new to the league that’s based in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Lexington SC played five preseason matches ahead of the USL League One season.

Those preseason contests came against the University of the Cumberlands (NAIA), Columbus Crew 2 (MLS NEXT Pro), Georgetown College (NAIA), Chattanooga Red Wolves (USL League One) and the University of Kentucky (NCAA).

Lexington Sporting Club wore sponsor-less shirts during those preseason matches.

LSC will have a 21-player roster this season with Sam Stockley — who also works as the club’s men’s sporting director — serving as head coach.

Lexington SC will play a 32-game regular season in USL League One, with the potential to reach the postseason at its conclusion.

LSC will also have an early season measuring-stick moment in early April, when the club faces in-state rival Louisville City FC in the second round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. That match will be played at Louisville’s Lynn Family Stadium.

LSC’s first ever home match will be in early April. The team will be playing at Toyota Stadium in Georgetown.

LSC’s home jerseys have not yet been announced.
