Grand National Tips: Paddy Power’s ultimate Cheat Sheet for the big race on Saturday

Published

The 2024 Grand National is finally here.

Get ready to listen to a friend of a friend tell you a 50/1 shot will bolt up and after all of your research, your Granny backs the winner because she liked the jockey’s colours.

They’re all fine methods, and who are we to meddle with tradition? But maybe there’s another way.

It’s time for Paddy’s Ultimate Grand National Cheat Sheet taking in insight from everyone including National winning jockey Ruby Walsh.

You can marvel at it below or CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD to share with your pals. Or if you’re the more modern type, we have a digital interactive Cheat Sheet below. Whichever takes your fancy.

CAPADANO (each-way) has had a better prep this season and can improve on last year’s showing in the Grand National.

MAHLER MISSION looks a bit of value as the 4m 2d trip and whatever ground he encounters should be fine. Unlucky not to win the NH Chase at Cheltenham a couple seasons ago and trainer’s UK strike rate is very good.

The Grand National is Irish dominated and my four against the field are:  I AM MAXIMUS NOBLE YEATS, MEETINGOFTHEWATERS and VANNILLER.

Let’s get down to brass tacks, bottomless stayers need only apply this year and the mare GALIA DES LITEAUX fits the bill perfectly.

In the Grand National it’s PANDA BOY, MEETINGOFTHEWATERS and GALIA DES LITEAUX that are my three against the field and the tricast!

I fancy LIMERICK LACE to lead home the Irish pair of Panda Boy, I Am Maximus, and UK runner Galia Des Liteaux.

KITTYS LIGHT is exactly the same as my sparring partner, Luke Harvey was in his riding days. They both have their own way of getting from A to B – but it’s effective!

I’ll take I AM MAXIMUS on Saturday. Tallus Maximus is a nickname I had many years ago for obvious reasons and he has a decent chance based on the odds

There might be 34 runners but MR.INCREDIBLE sounds so similar to my husband that I really have no other choice.

I’m going to go for MEETINGOFTHEWATERS, he should get the distance fine and you can’t argue with Willie Mullins’ runners in these big races.

My four against the field in the Grand National are MEETINGOFTHEWATERS, CORACH RAMBLERNOBLE YEATS and PANDA BOY.

MEETINGOFTHEWATERS is lightly raced and has a beautiful light weight. He will need to settle but if he does, he can be ahead of his mark.

MAHLER MISSION has been kept fresh since a fine second in the Coral Gold Cup last Autumn. The way he jumped/travelled that day marked him down as one who will be well served by the demands of this race.
