AN Elgin care home have raised more than a thousand pounds with their fitness challenge.
The staff and residents of Anderson’s Care Home committed to the month long challenge, titled Get Fit February to raise money for activities in the home.
Activities Co-ordinator Sarah Granitza led the challenge and completed 500 miles of walking, rowing and cycling in the gym.
The residents of Anderson’s also took to their exercise equipment and even had an 80’s themed fundraising event at Tesco Elgin.
Sarah said: “Through the month of February all of our residents were joining in with our Get Fit challenge. They did lots of steps and we incorporated it into our activity programme, so they could do fitness, be involved in the challenge and help raise money too.
“Residents really enjoyed it, so much so that one of our residents is continuing to have a step target every day and and a couple of families have purchased the foot and hand exercise machines because they enjoyed it so much and it helps to keep active.”
The team managed to raise £1545 which will be used for the activity programme at Anderson’s. This includes materials for activities, bus runs and day trips and an interactive table.
